We spent our first Saturday in the country by wandering around London. It was supposed to be sunny all day, but that changed and we left to come home a little early because of the rain and cold. We wandered by Parliament, and then had lunch in Kensington near Notting Hill. From there we wandered along the western part of Hyde Park past Kensington Palace, the Royal Albert hall, and over to Buckingham Palace. All in all, not a bad day.
Train tickets are a little expensive, though. Round trip from Bracknell plus a day pass on the tube is about $17.75 a piece. Nice. They don’t offer passes for commuters, so apparently the annual cost of a 10-mile round-trip in and out of the city runs about $4500. You’d think there was some kind of subsidy, but I guess not.
