For the late August Bank holiday (unlike in the states where holidays have special names, here they just call them Bank Holidays) we drove west to visit Wales. Wales is the most rural of all the countries in the UK, and many of the locals speak Welsh, a language that appears to use vowels only when absolutely necessary (that was our guess after having read the road signs). We spent two nights in the capital of Cardiff (Caerdydd in Welsh) and one night at a B&B near the Pembrokeshire coast. We hiked a bit of the 180+ mile long coast path on Sunday. The countryside was beautiful and we can’t wait to go back.
