Located right in the center of the Miraflores neighborhood of Lima and only a few blocks from our apartment, are the ruins of an 1,800 year-old precolumbian pyramid. Until 1981 the hill was a trash dump and a motocross track, but since then the site has been an active archaeological dig and museum. They’ve only uncovered about half of the site in the past 32 years, and expect to take another 30 to finish. Only a few days after our visit scientists announced the discovery of two new mummies in a tomb. Guided tours are required, and ours exceeded our expectations.
