After two weeks in Taipei we took a train to the eastern side of Taiwan to visit the smaller city of Hualien and the famous Taroko Gorge in Taroko National Park.

We spent almost a week in Hualien, and when we weren’t hiking through the national park we spent time exploring the neighborhoods near the shore. One day we borrowed the free loaner bikes from our hotel and rode the 15-kilometer waterfront trail that runs from Hualien to Qixingtan Bay to the north.
