A short drive west of Split is the island town of Trogir. Similar to Zadar but smaller, Trogir is a city on an island that was once a fortress. Like much of Dalmatia, the town was part of the Republic of Venice for several centuries. The Venetian influence is visible in almost all of the town’s architecture.
