For my birthday this year Kim and I spent a three-day weekend in the mountain town of Leavenworth. A two-hour drive away, the small town is a popular destination year round for its proximity to a ski resort, wineries, and golf courses. A former gold rush town, Leavenworth decided to reinvent itself in the 1960s by emulating a Bavarian village, complete with German festivals and architecture.
On our last day in town we booked a snowshoeing tour around a ski park adjacent to the Wenatchee river. Here’s some of what we saw on a cold day.
