After a week in Slovenia we flew south to visit Montenegro. About the size of Connecticut, the small, mountainous country is a popular tourist spot for its low costs and Adriatic weather. We stayed in the coastal resort town of Tivat, but we rented a car a did a short road trip almost every day.
For our first trip we drove southeast to the town of Budva. Although popular with tourists because of its casinos and old town, we only visited the latter. We savored a terrific lunch at an outdoor table and also enjoyed the old town’s churches and its citadel, whose oldest parts date to the 9th century.
