After five days in the megalopolis of Tokyo, we rode west to the old imperial capital city of Kyoto. A tenth the size of the current capital, Kyoto is extremely popular with tourists as it contains a multitude of shrines and temples. On our first day we only visited the Buddhist temple a short walk from our hotel.
