During our two weeks in Melbourne we spent most of our time touring the central business district and its environs. In one area just to the east of the CBD (Aussies don’t say ‘downtown’) are the state’s parliament building and the seat of the Archdiocese of Melbourne, St Patrick’s cathedral.
Just east of both of these sites is the sprawling Fitzroy Gardens, which we walked through on a much milder summer day than what we experienced at the tennis tournament the following week.
