Across the street from Nehru park were the Hanging Gardens. Hanging in this case refers to the Parsi Zoroastrian burial tradition of placing the dead in the open air for consumption by birds. Vultures and other birds circled over the forested area adjacent to the main part of the park, which is actually a cover over a small reservoir.
