Saturday morning we left Reykjavik for the first time to view the sights on the tourist loop known as the Golden Circle. About 200 miles long, the loop passes a dozen or so well-known natural and man-made attractions. Depending on your interest in the area, you can find itineraries for the loop that last several hours or several days. We opted to do it in one day.
We started at Þingvellir (Thingvellir) National Park, and then visited some geothermal areas, a few waterfalls, and a volcanic crater.
