The morning we left Lagos we drove west towards Sagres and the southwestern tip of Europe. We stopped first at the 16th-century fortress, the Fortaleza de Sagres. There isn’t much left after an 18th-century earthquake, but the peninsula it protects is a nice place to walk around.
