This is St. Justa (on the left) and her sister St. Rufina, who were martyrs killed by pagans in the 3rd century. According to legend, Rufina was thrown into a cage with a Lion who refused to attack her. We liked how this artist related that part of the story by having the big cat lick Rufina’s foot.
