Golden Goal

(noun) Sudden-death overtime is a relatively new introduction into the world of football (soccer), where “extra time” used to be played in full, occasionally allowing both teams to score thereby leaving the contest unresolved. Not anymore. The last golden goal I saw was scored by accidentally by a defensive player. Those are known as own goals, so this was either a golden own goal or an own golden goal. I haven’t figured out which.
