A white Christmas

It won’t be snow for us this year, but sand. We decided that since we weren’t going to be back in the states this year for the holidays we wanted to see some sunshine. Originally we had planned to spend Christmas in Cairo and then four days at a resort on the Red Sea. We were all ready to book the trip on the morning of September 11th, and while we were waiting for the travel agent to call us back we learned of the events in New York. We decided to hold off on our decision and after meeting with the agent we picked a tiny island nation off the southwestern coast of India called the Maldives.

The country is made up of 1,200 miniscule islands just north of the equator in the Indian Ocean. Our resort has only 60 rooms, and we’ll be able to walk out into the ocean directly from ours. Needless to say we’re very excited. We leave at 9pm on the night of the 23rd and we’ll have our Christmas Eve lunch right after we land. We’ll post many pictures after we get back. We plan to snorkel, swim, and lie around in the hammocks that are strewn about the resort.
