Walking through Casco Viejo

After a full day where we caught up on our sleep, we wandered out into the streets of our hotel’s neighborhood, Casco Viejo. The area is the second oldest part of the city, as the original site a few miles to the northeast was sacked by pirates in 1673.

We wandered the streets for a few hours in the light rain until we came upon the Panama Canal Museum. We wandered in for the tour and learned about the failed French attempt to build a canal in Panama, followed by the American effort that took ten years to complete.
