Ostrog Monastery

Our final trip in Montenegro was a two-hour drive inland to the famous Ostrog Monastery. Built in the late 17th century, the monastery is dedicated to St. Basil of Ostrog, whose body can be visited in a tiny cave overseen by a monk.

We parked about a half mile below the upper monastery and walked the stone stairs in the forest shade to the top.
