A castle built for financier Henry Pellatt in the early 20th century, Casa Loma was the city’s most prominent private residence for the short period in which he lived there with his family. He lost ownership due to unpaid taxes after the first world war. The building was managed by the local Kiwanis club for the next 74 years before undergoing a 15-year renovation to convert it into the museum and event facility that it is today.

The castle has long been popular as a filming location for movies and television, and it proudly shows that in a series of exhibits with wax sculptures of the actors who have performed there.
